UNIQUE - we cut Slimline Membrane rolls and supply part rolls of tape.

Easy to lay as a floor membrane, over damp concrete, slabs, slates or well compacted earth. Simply roll out and join with the self amalgamating, double sided Joint Tape. Press the two sheet edges together with an overlap of 3 - 4 stud rows (about 75mm), stud side down. You can lay a concrete floor or screed directly on top, or fit a 'floating' floor of tongued and grooved chipboard. As a wall membrane the sheets are hung from the top, using the black hammer in plugs, which have a hole in the middle ready to take a number 12 self tapping screw. Each plug is fitted with a waterproof seal washer. Battens are then screwed to the plug heads. Usage rate - a roll, 2 metres wide x 20 metres long will cover about 36 square metres, allowing 10% for the overlapping joints. Allow 4 plugs per square metre. Data Sheet - click here.

Slimline Membrane for walls where thickness to match with existing plaster is important. Part rolls cut from 1 metre or 2 metre wide membrane.

As a wall membrane only, the sheets are hung from the top, using the white hammer in plugs, which have a rough top surface to take plaster. Each plug is fitted with a waterproof seal made from a roll of mastic rope, or by using the special mastic sealant. The Mesh surface can be either directly plastered with Bonding or covered with Plasterboard on dabs of adhesive. Plastering can be carried out using Carlite Bonding Plaster. Usage rate - a roll, 2 metres wide x 10 metres long will cover about 18 square metres, allowing 10% for the overlapping joints. Special Note: the number of plugs that you need for fixing Mesh Membrane varies according to the intended use. This means that you have to be careful when pricing Kits - they may contain too few or too many plugs for your Project;

• direct plastering with Bonding Plaster - allow 25 plugs per square metre, 250mm centres
• fixing Plasterboard with 'dabs' of adhesive - allow 15 plugs per square metre, one for each dab.
• direct rendering with sand & cement - allow 50 plugs per square metre, 150mm centres.

Direct rendering onto Mesh Membrane with sand and cement is only rarely specified, usually for outdoor use. With render you will also require additional Mastic to fill the movement joints that have to be left at every vertical overlap.

Use standard 9mm or 12.5mm plasterboard, then a skim finish - adds a minimum of 15mm to the thickness, plus the wooden batten - the battens should equal your insulation thickness - say 1 inch (25mm) - they screw onto the plug heads.

Use Bonding type plaster, then a skim finish - adds a minimum of 12mm to the thickness. If you need less thickness use our Slimline Mesh Membrane (see below).

Kontract Membrane with plugs for battens

The black plugs are 11mm in diameter and 73mm long. They require a 10mm masonry bit. Rubber seals need to be fitted, cone face outwards. The 10mm diameter holes should be drilled at least 85mm deep, to allow for drill dust, so that the seal is pushed into the dimple properly. Usage rate - 4 plugs per square metre, 600mm maximum spacing allow battens, battens spaced to suit the plasterboard chosen.

Special Mastic Can also be used for plug neck sealing.

For sealing between the black plug head and the dimple in the Membrane. The cone face is fitted outwards, under the plug head, to fit the cone shaped stem. Usage rate - 1 per plug, 4 per square metre.

White Plugs - for fixing mesh type Plaster Membrane to walls

For fixing mesh membrane. The plugs are 10mm diameter x 70mm long. They require a 8mm diameter hole drilled to at least 80mm deep, to allow for bore dust. Usage rate - Allow 25 plugs per square metre for plastering, or 15 plugs per square metre for plasterboard 'dabs'.

For sealing between the white plug head and the dimple in the Membrane. Pieces of mastic rope about 13mm long are cut from the roll and wound under the plug head, to form a circular seal. Usage rate - 1 per plug, 25 per square metre for plastering, 15 per square metre for plasterboard on 'dabs'.

For sealing 'outside' corners between the sheets of Membrane. Very useful for awkward joins, edges and around pipes and wires. Only sticky on one side.

Also used for sealing Membrane to Aquachannel.

The version for Mesh Membrane, if you going to directly plaster onto the Mesh with Carlite Bonding, has a special surface fibre fabric coating, which gives a good bond for the plaster, or plaster dabs for plasterboard fixing.

Usage rate - allow one roll of wide tape per Project. It can be cut down in width and used for patching holes, or sealing other plastic or smooth metal parts through or on to the Membrane.

Geotextile Membrane for Protection of walls below ground

Usage rate - allow 2 bits per roll of Membrane or Mesh Membrane.

NOTE - these Bits can also be held in normal chucks, without the SDS+ fitting.

Black Sump Kit - a black plastic sump bucket, 560mm high x 460mm diameter (widest), supplied with a composite screw down lid and seal. Includes a powerful pump incorporating float switch, for automatic on/off control. The pump is complete with the pipe adapters and couplings to reach the outside of the sump bucket, to which you can connect standard white waste pipework to connect to the nearest drain or grey water pipe.
